Introduction

This statement is a guide for those who might have concerns about access whilst staying at our B&B. If you need more information or clarification of anything below please contact us. (See at end of this Statement for contact details)

Brickwall Farm Cottage was originally two farm labourers cottages built circa 1750 ad., a number of extensions been added since then to bring it up to modern day standards within the constraints of the core original buildings. Because of the age and layout of the building we are unfortunately unable to provide wheelchair access. Due to the age of the building please be aware that floor levels and door/ ceiling heights may vary. (Please therefore mind your head.

Location

We are located at Brook End on the B4155 road in the village of Weston Turville, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
We are about 2 minutes walk to the village shops and within 10 minutes walk of three public houses/ restaurants.
We are approximately 3 miles from Aylesbury and Wendover. The nearest train station is Stoke Mandeville (2 miles) and the nearest bus stop is a five minute walk opposite the Chandos Inn

Car Parking Facilities

Ample parking is provided at the front of the property, on tarmac surface with a slight gradient to the road, please be aware of the ground surfaces that can become slippery due to prevailing weather conditions (rain, snow or ice). The front door is accessed at the side of the house. Guests are requested to park parallel to the house leaving enough space so that two more vehicles can park. There is also off road parking for one car at the side of the building. All vehicles are parked at the owners’ risk and we accept no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage that occurs to any vehicle or its contents while that vehicle is on our premises, whether permission has been granted or not.  For guest safety when arriving after dark, the outside of the property is fitted with low level illumination during darkness, with full power illumination on the triggering of PIR lights from 18W low level to 60W maximum lighting.

Main Entrance & Reception

There is one step up into the quarry tiles front porch, a further one step up takes you through the front door onto a recessed foot mat directly in front of main front door leading to a level, carpeted hall. The hall leads through a door on the left with a step down into the dining room and reception area.

The bedrooms are accessed by a thirteen tread staircase with handrail up to bedrooms. This staircase is accessed via the utility area at the end of the kitchen adjacent to the back door. The back door is the fire exit door as well as the entrance and exit door used by guests once they have registered.

General comment about the property

Please note that the floors due to the age of the property are not level and tend to lean slightly one way or another. Taller people should also be aware of the height of some of the doors and of the stairwell and mind their headroom

Bedroom Areas

Stairs lead up to guest bedrooms by a thirteen tread carpeted staircase. This staircase has restricted height and guests are made aware of this on arrival.  There are a further two steps up to the double en-suite bedroom at the far end of the carpeted landing . The double en-suite bedroom is contained the two rooms that are at the end of the first floor landing access to these rooms are via the door that is at the top of the two stairs at the far end of the landing. All rooms have Freeview TV.  Iterrnet access is provided with either by hard wire or Wifi .

No lift available.

Public Areas - WC

Down stairs off the utility room.

Dining / reception room,

Dining room floor is level with carpet.
One large communal dining table.

Laundry

We do not offer laundry washing facilities. There is an iron and ironing board available for use please ask if you reqiure these items.

Outdoor Facilities

Low level during darkness and full power on triggering PIR. (60W maximum light - 18W low) lighting is provided in the parking area and along the path leading from the parking area round the side of the house to the back door which is used by guests after registration for entering and leaving the premises. When outside always be aware of the ground surfaces that can become slippery duer to prevailing weather conditions (rain, snow or ice)

First floor landing

The landing on the first floor has 24hour lighting. A thermostatic electric heater is also provided for ambient night time temperature.

The fire bell with instructions is situated on the wash stand on the landing.

Local information and books for residents to use are in a bookcase on the landing

Bedrooms

None available on the ground floor.

All bedrooms display the fire safety notices
Some of the bedroom doors are original and are smaller than the doors of today.

Ceiling light switch on walls adjacent to the doors.
Ceiling light is 60w equivalent.
Bedside table lights are 40w equivalent.
Tea and coffee is supplied and a cordless kettle provided.

All bedrooms have either mains or battery smoke alarms 

All showers have warning notices displayed prior to entering.

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Private for Room 3] 

Twin room is En Suite has shower and lavatory facilities

Front double bedroom has its own power shower, lavatory facilities and a private lounge/TV room.

Ths single room  has a private bathroom (with stand in bath power shower and available off the first floor landing, beware of sloping ceiling but level flooring. )

All showers have warning notices displayed prior to entering.

Grounds and Gardens

We have a cottage garden, uneven paths leading between beds.
A small pond is situated alongside the patio

Additional Information
Mobile reception is patchy depending on which network you use. (Vodafone and Orange reception is good)
Internet access is either by hardwire connection or wireless
